Laura trained in Aberdeen with Karen Berry School of Dance before studying for three years at Stella Mann College of Performing Arts in London, graduating in 1999. Laura then danced professionally abroad for Rios Productions in Korea and Jose Montes in Portugal amongst others before settling back in Aberdeen and founding Flashdance in 2004.
Laura then gained teaching qualifications with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and Imperial Society for Teachers of Dance (ISTD) and enjoys nothing more than continuing her learning on regular and diverse courses, including becoming an Acrobatic Arts instructor in 2016.
The development of Flashdance and each individual pupil is always at the forefront of Laura’s mind and actions as the school continues to grow and evolve.
RAD Diploma in Dance Education, RAD RTS, DDI, AISTD
Alison trained at Levena Taylor School of Dance from the age of 5 in RAD Ballet, Modern, Tap, Jazz and Highland. Upon leaving school, she went on to study at Robert Gordons University and obtained a BSc (Hons) in Architecture.
In 2009, Alison began working as a student teacher and in 2010 began a Diploma in Dance Education with the RAD. She graduated in 2012 and obtained RAD RTS in 2013. Since then, she has taught in a number of schools in the North East while achieving RAD Intermediate in Ballet, ISTD DDI Modern and Tap and most recently a Distinction in Advanced 2 Modern. Alison has experience in teaching a wide variety of styles and teaches a range of children from 18 months to adults.
Alison joined FlashDance in August 2016 and has loved getting know and teach all the students that attend Cairncry Community Centre.

Street Dance Teacher
Morgan is the newest addition to the Flashdance team, 18 years old and teaches Street dance at a Flashdance. She joined the Flashdance teaching team last July and has loved every minute of teaching the pupils Hip-hop every Friday.
Morgan is from a dance family and has years of experience learning and working at her mum’s dance school, Sharon Gill School Of Dance since the age of two!. Over the years she has taken classes in many genres of dance including ballet, jazz, hip-hop and cheer-leading.
A well rounded performer in all types of dance, however hip-hop is her niche. In addition to teaching hip-hop for Flashdance, Morgan also holds a Level 2 BCA Cheer-leading qualification and coaches her own cheer team! Morgan is currently on Team Scotland Senior Hip-hop after successfully auditioning last August to represent Scotland at the Cheer and Dance World Championships 2020 in Orlando, Florida. Unfortunately this hasn’t gone to plan due to the Covid-19 pandemic. She remains very motivated and when the tournament eventually comes, she intends to be totally ready and excited to make her debut on the World stage.
Her other memorable achievements include dancing in The Scottish Ballet’s Production of Hansel & Gretal in His Majesty’s Theater Aberdeen aged 12 and winning 3 National Titles at the Follow Your Dreams Nationals last September.
Her biggest joy comes from seeing the progress in her pupils.
ISTD (DDE), AISTD, SDTA (Associate)
Gillian began dancing with Levena Taylor in Inverurie at the age of 3, she then went on to have a career in the oil industry for five years. Becoming a fully qualified highland teacher at the age of 20 Gillian decided to follow her passion for dance by studying full time in England gaining distinction in Vocational examinations Advanced 2 Modern and Intermediate Tap. Whilst in London Gillian attended workshops lead by Darcey Bussell at the RAD Head Quarters to become a fully qualified DDMIX Instructor.
Since returning to Aberdeen Gillian has completed her ISTD Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) in Modern Theatre and become a fully certified Acrobatic Arts teacher all whilst retraining with The Royal Academy of Dance for a certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies.
Senior Class Assistant & Head of Administration
Molly began dancing at the tender age of 4 and has studied styles such as ballet, modern and tap. She joined the Flashdance Team as an assistant in 2012 and was mainly assisting in the baby/preschool classes and Acrobatic Arts. Recently she has taken on the role of Administration.
Molly loves being part of the team and watching the children we teach grow in confidence as they get older and work towards the end of term shows.
Senior Class Assistant & Performance Group Dance Leader
Courteney has been part of the Flashdance team since 2011, when she joined as a dancer for the school. She became a Teachers Assistant in 2013 and due to her high interest in dancing and choreography, she obtained a Level 1 Sports Leadership Qualification in Dance as a part of the YDance Organization, as well as participating in her school’s Rock Challenge team from 2013 to 2015.
She holds an HND in Legal Services and In 2016 she enrolled at Robert Gordon University for a BA (Hons) in Law & Management. Her current role in Flashdance is as an Assistant, mainly to our Performance Group, who attend events such as Dance Proms, as well as competing in other events.
Senior Class Assistant
Georgia has been dancing for twelve years! With vast experience in many dance styles including ballet and musical theatre. During her time in secondary school, she helped choreograph and teach several dances for the school’s competition team.
Ms Georgia joined the Flashdance team as an assistant in 2013 and mostly assist in ballet and tap classes. She loves watching the kids develop from tiny tots into gorgeous elegant dancers.
